Rent or Buy the iPhone 18 Pro Models?

There is no base iPhone 18 in Malaysia yet. Apple sells the iPhone 18 Pro from RM5,499 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max from RM5,999. Renting both through Cinch costs RM259 to RM282/month, depending on term. Rent for short upgrade cycles; buy for long ones. If you have been searching for iPhone 18 Malaysia prices, you have probably noticed the phone most people were waiting for isn't on sale.

Why does the iPhone 18 Matter in Malaysia Right Now?

Apple's September launch was a Pro-only affair. The current Apple iPhone line-up lists the iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e and iPhone 16, with no standard iPhone 18 and no iPhone 18 Plus. Anyone who budgeted for a cheaper non-Pro model now has three choices: pay Pro prices, wait for a model Apple hasn't announced, or spread the cost.

That last option is where Cinch, a device subscription service in Malaysia, comes in. You pay a monthly fee for the phone only, keep your current mobile number and plan, and return, extend or upgrade at the end of the term.

Did the iPhone 18 Launch in Malaysia?

Only the Pro models did. Apple iPhone 18 Pro buy page sells the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, and they went on sale here in September 2026. A standard iPhone 18 isn't listed anywhere on Apple's Malaysian store.

Apple hasn't announced a date or a Malaysian price for a base iPhone 18, so treat any date you see quoted as a rumour. There is also no iPhone 18 Plus in the line-up. The autumn range is the two Pro phones plus the foldable iPhone Duo, which Apple lists for pre-order from 8PM MYT on 16 October, with availability from 23 October and prices from RM9,499 for 256GB.

If your current phone works well, waiting costs you nothing. If it is failing, the Pro models are the only iPhone 18 you can get today.

What are the iPhone 18 Malaysia Prices?

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at RM5,499 for 256GB, rising to RM6,499 for 512GB, RM8,499 for 1TB and RM11,499 for 2TB. The iPhone 18 Pro Max costs RM5,999, RM6,999, RM8,999 and RM11,999 for the same four capacities. There is no 128GB option on either model; 256GB is the starting point.

Apple also offers 0% installments over 6, 12 or 24 months on qualifying credit cards for purchases of RM2,000 or more, subject to your card issuer's approval. Over 24 months, the 256GB Pro works out to RM229.13/month and the 256GB Pro Max to RM249.96/month. Your bank may add its own fees, so check its terms before you commit.

What Actually Changed on the iPhone 18 Pro?

The biggest upgrade is the camera. According to Apple's iPhone 18 Pro specifications, the 48MP Fusion Main camera now has a variable aperture that moves between f/1.48 and f/4.0. Earlier iPhones used a fixed aperture and simulated background blur in software. A physical aperture gives you real optical depth of field and more control in dim light, which matters for indoor dinners and night markets.

Both phones run the A20 Pro chip. The Pro has a 6.3-inch display and weighs 211g, while the Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display and weighs 249g. Both come in black, silver, glacier and burgundy. If you are deciding between them, the larger screen is the main reason to pay the extra RM500 for the Pro Max.

How much does it Cost to Rent the iPhone 18 Pro in Malaysia?

On Cinch, the iPhone 18 Pro costs RM505/month on a 3-month plan, RM395 on 6 months, RM275 on 12 months and RM259 on 18 months. The iPhone 18 Pro Max costs RM550, RM430, RM300 and RM282 for the same terms. The 18-month option is new this week, and these are the starting prices shown on each product page.

Over a full term, a 12-month Pro plan totals RM3,300 and an 18-month Pro plan totals RM4,662. For the Pro Max, 12 months comes to RM3,600 and 18 months to RM5,076.

Every plan includes Cinch Damage Coverage, which pays 90% of repair costs from accidental damage, leaving you 10%. Theft, loss and willful damage aren't covered. You can buy the phone at any point after your first month at the buyout price shown in your account. At the end of the term, you can upgrade, extend or return it.

Should You Rent, Buy Outright or use an Installment Plan?

The answer depends on how long you keep your phones. If you replace your iPhone every year or two, renting avoids a large upfront payment, the hassle of reselling and the risk of a big repair bill. If you keep phones for 3 years or more, buying is better value.

Take the 256GB Pro Max. Buying outright, or through Apple's 0% plan, costs RM5,999 in total, and the phone is yours to keep or sell. Renting it for 18 months costs RM5,076, and you still don't own it at the end. If you keep your phones long term, buying wins.

The picture flips on shorter horizons. A 12-month Pro rental costs RM3,300, includes 90% damage coverage, and lets you move to whichever iPhone Apple releases next without selling anything. Buying the same phone means paying RM5,499 upfront, or tying up RM5,499 of credit-card limit, and handling any repairs and the resale yourself.

Telco bundles sit in between. They lower the upfront cost but tie the phone to a postpaid line for the contract period, often with early-exit charges. If you already want a new postpaid plan, a bundle can be convenient. If you are happy with your current number and plan, renting keeps the device and the line separate.

Who can Rent an iPhone from Cinch?

Cinch subscriptions are open to Malaysian citizens aged 18 or over with a MyKad. At checkout, you complete an identity check through SumSub and a credit check. Cinch accepts debit cards and Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit cards, but not prepaid cards.

You can return an order within 24 hours of receiving it if it is in good condition and in its original packaging. After that, ending a subscription early or switching to a different model carries an early termination fee of RM350. Delivery estimates on the product pages are currently 4 weeks for the iPhone 18 Pro and 4 to 6 weeks for the Pro Max, and the 1TB versions are out of stock.

iPhone 18 Pro Models Rental FAQs

  1. Is the iPhone 18 available in Malaysia? Only the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple doesn't sell a standard iPhone 18 or an iPhone 18 Plus, and hasn't announced when a base model will arrive.

  2. How much is the iPhone 18 Pro Max in Malaysia? RM5,999 for 256GB, RM6,999 for 512GB, RM8,999 for 1TB and RM11,999 for 2TB at Apple. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at RM5,499.

  3. Can I rent the iPhone 18 Pro in Malaysia? Yes. Cinch rents the iPhone 18 Pro from RM259/month on an 18-month plan and the Pro Max from RM282, with 90% accidental damage coverage included.

  4. Is renting an iPhone more expensive than buying? It is if you keep phones for a long time. An 18-month Pro Max rental totals RM5,076 with no ownership, compared with RM5,999 to buy. For one- or two-year upgrade cycles, renting avoids the upfront cost and the resale hassle.

  5. Do I need a Maxis or CelcomDigi plan to rent an iPhone from Cinch? No. Cinch rents the device only, so you keep your existing prepaid or postpaid line with any Malaysian network.

  6. Should I wait for the base iPhone 18? Only if your current phone still works well. Apple hasn't confirmed a date or price, and the variable-aperture camera is only confirmed on the Pro models, so waiting may not get you the biggest upgrade.

Ready to Upgrade without the Upfront Cost?

If you want the iPhone 18 Pro now but would rather not pay over RM5,000 upfront, you can compare plans across 3, 6, 12 and 18-month terms on Cinch. Every plan includes damage coverage, and you can upgrade when the iPhone you actually want arrives.
